Cold Enamel and Gel Resin Class

This is a two day class.

Add colour to your metal. Learn to apply, cut back and polish gel resins and in-fill with cold enamel.

We’d like you to bring your own pieces that you want to add colour to. The work should have a recess or walls to hold the resin in. There will be some silver blanks available for sale from the tutor but you are encouraged to bring or make your own items.

If you are making items from PMC, do not use original PMC for use with cold enamels as it is too porous. Only PMC+ or PMC3 is suitable.

We will not be making pieces entirely in resin.

There will be samples of pieces with resin in and a demonstration of the process. You will then discuss the suitability of the pieces you’ve brought with you. There will be time to make simple pieces in metal or PMC if necessary for which a charge will be made. You’ll then apply resin to your samples and they will be left to cure overnight.

Once your piece has been cured, you’ll continue working on it. This will include cutting back of resin, cleaning and polishing. There will be time for problem solving any 'mistakes' like bubbles, including drilling out or removing resin if needed.
