Kick Start your Creativity
This is a two day class
Whether you are an experienced jewellery designer or a complete beginner, creativity is part of what you do. So what is creativity? The following definition seems to capture it:-
"First, they [the characteristics of creativity] always involve thinking or behaving imaginatively. Second, overall this imaginative activity is purposeful: that is, it is directed to achieving an objective. Third, these processes must generate something original. Fourth, the outcome must be of value in relation to the objective."
'All our futures: Creativity, culture and education', the National Advisory Committee's report (DfEE, 1999)
Sometimes, we are so wrapped up in the business or process of producing that we lose sight of the creative spark. This is particularly true when you're producing work for sale.
This class is designed for anyone who wants to have a creative ‘spring clean’. You will be exploring your own imagination, which is the heart of creative thinking. Using various methods, your imagination will be stimulated, both privately and interacting with the group.

Over the weekend, you'll be challenged to apply your imagination to create original things quickly, on the fly, with minimal preparation or thought, from the gut.
At other times you will have more time to think and consider what you'll create from a given stimulus. The atmosphere will always be supportive and nuturing, a celebration of your unique creativity.
You'll be able to explore your own creative process, what works for you, what doesn’t. You'll be encouraged to try out different ways of working, different media from what you're used to, different tools.
All you need to bring to this class is an open minded willingness to participate, to contribute and to have fun.
You might also like to bring along a sketch book, journal or other method you normally use to capture ideas. You’ll be generating plenty during this weekend!
Your tutor for this class will be Julia Rai.
