Knitting and Crochet with Wire
This is a two day class
This class is an introduction to crocheting or knitting with wire.
You will learn how to knit with wire, with or without adding beads. Previous knowledge of basic knitting would help but is not necessary. You will take home several swatches and completed pieces, depending on your ability, from different gauges and types of wire.
There will be a basic introduction to crocheting and knitting. You will get to know the different types of needle and their sizes and learn about the variety of wire to use, such as silver, gold, copper, brass and different coloured wire. You will also learn about the various gauges available and their suitability for crocheting or knitting. You will learn and practise a few basic stitches to create some swatches.
You will be able to choose a project to work on such as a bracelet, ring or necklace. With the aid of the tutor, you will select material for your project and get started. You will learn how to work the swatches created earlier into your pieces. You should be able to complete your pieces by the end of the weekend and take away a skill to continue creating your own pieces.
