Polymer Clay Jewellery Class
This is a two day class.
Polymer clay is one of the most versatile and dynamic mediums about today with high quality design pieces being produced by artists all over the world. It can be used in conjunction with traditional materials such as silver and gold or incorporated with fibres, ceramics, glass or wood. It is quick and easy to learn the basics but can take a lifetime to explore the possibilities of this colourful-and economical-material. It is, in short, intriguing and addictive - you have been warned!!
Day one will start with an overview of the various brands available, conditioning the clay, a look at the various tools available, how to use the pasta machine and baking the clay. We will then look at a number of different cane making techniques such as bullseye, jelly roll, skinner blend, twists and checker board. From these simple techniques and using just black and white you can build up really exciting and sophisticated patterns and shapes to use for bead making and other jewellery work.
