Charm Parties
This is a fab idea for a unique birthday party!
We are now offering Make Your Own Silver Charm Parties throughout the year at our well equipped jewellery workshop here in Par.
Groups of up to four can come to the Mid Cornwall School of Jewellery to make pure silver charms. Here is how it works-
Each partygoer makes 2 charms-one for herself and one for the Birthday Girl. The birthday girl gets a sterling silver bracelet to hang her charms on.
We are used to working with complete beginners so the girls don't have to worry about getting a good result. First we work with plasticine for half an hour so the girls get their designs ready. We provide plenty of items the girls can use to help them come up with great designs and I will have samples to show them of finished items.
Once they have the design figured out in plasticine, I allocate them the right amount of Precious Metal Clay to form the same designs. When this clay dries out (we speed it up using a hair dryer or dehumidifier) we fire the items in the kiln for 10 minutes so they are left with PURE SILVER Hallmark quality charms.
The girls then polish the charms, we help them attach rings and put together the silver bracelet for the Birthday Girl.
Your responsibilities would be to have at least one adult in attendance, provide some refreshments while the clay is drying/firing and tidy up the food area when we are finished.
We take safety in the workshop very seriously, will explain the rules clearly and guide the girls at every step of the way. They won't use any dangerous machinery but we will demonstrate a few traditional jewellery techniques for them.
Who knows-you might have a budding jeweller amongst them!

Things to consider before booking a charm party...
The minimum age is 10 years old and we can accommodate up to four party goers. This takes around two and a half hours and the cost for the charm party including the clay and bracelet is £150. Our workshop is so busy that weekends can be booked up but we can run the Make Your Own Silver Charm Parties on weekday evenings usually from 5pm-7.30pm by arrangement only.
