Low Tech Etching Class
This is a two day class.
In this very hands on class, you will learn the basics of etching that
can easily be done in your own home or studio. You will learn several
different ways of transferring your design on the metal including
Sharpie pens, paint pens, tape, rub on letters and more. We will use
a non-toxic solution to etch copper and brass and then explore
different ways to patina your etched pieces. Robert will also
demonstrate several ways of incorporating your etched designs into
finished work including die forming, cold connections and anticlastic
forming.
The materials and tools are inexpensive, safe and easily available and
the techniques quickly learned.
Tuition will include 6”x6” of copper (enough for numerous examples) –
more copper can be purchased during the class if desired.
