Making Glass Cabochons
This is a two day class.
Glass cabochons are a useful staple of jewellers and metal clay artists, combining well with both sterling silver and metal clay. They are also very popular on their own as earrings or pendants.
On this class you'll learn how to make your own glass cabochons using kiln formed glass and glass fusing techniques. You'll learn the basics of working with glass from cutting glass safely to trapping inclusions and using different types of colouring materials. Firing will be covered fully and those new to kilns will get a lesson in how to programme a kiln for glass.
We'll include working with dichroic glass to give your cabochons sparkle and instant attraction. Finally you'll learn how to drill holes in your cabochons for hanging and adding findings.
This class introduces students to glass fusing. The skills you learn here can be applied to larger glass projects when you get home as long as you have a programmable kiln.
Things to consider before booking this course...
This class is suitable for complete beginners. No knowledge of glass fusing is required.
It may be particularly useful for anyone planning on doing the Metal Clay Masters Registry.
