This is a one day intermediate level metal clay workshop.
In this full day workshop you will learn how to construct a marquis shaped box ring from metal clay. You'll use your creative eyes to turn every day household objects into doming forms. You will learn dry construction techniques to assemble your box ring.
You'll make and learn how to use flexible clay, a unique way to make a dried textured piece of clay flex and twist! You'll use flexible clay to make the ring shanks portion of your ring.
You will learn how to apply, cure and finish UV resin. You'll learn what materials to embed in resin to get maximum dramatic effect and you'll learn how to get that frosted glowing look. Plus you'll add color using an unexpected material.
Patrik Kusek
Patrik has been in the design and fashion industry for over 20 years. He has taught PMC classes and held workshops around the USA including the first ever PMC workshop at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. His work has appeared in numerous publications including Art Jewelry, Lapidary Journal, MJSA, and various books such as CeCe Wire's New Directions in Metal Clay: 25 Creative Jewelry Projects, the 2007 PMC Guild Annual and 500 Pendants and Lockets.
In addition he has appeared on HGTVs "That's Clever" television show. He has written numerous online tutorials and written articles for Art Jewelry Magazine, Metal Clay Artist Magazine and is the author of his first book Woodland Chic: Metal Clay Jewelry as Nature Intended. He is a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, American Craft Council and the PMC Guild. Patrik also won 1st place in the PMC category of the Saul Bell Design Awards in 2007. He is one of nine Rio Rewards Senior Instructors that teach the Rio Rewards Certification Program.
The jewellery school is based near St Austell in Cornwall, UK and all jewellery making classes run in our well equipped workshop.
