Silverwork for Metal Clay Artists Class

This is a two day class.

PMC is such a wonderful medium which allows you to produce great pieces of fine silver jewellery without having to train in silverwork for years. Commercial findings - like earring hooks, chains and clasps - are readily available and mean you can quickly wear your PMC jewellery with pride.

Maybe you're like other PMC artists who've found that as they get more experienced, they begin to wonder what it would be like to create their own findings, making their jewellery totally unique. Perhaps you have ideas for including specific designs of clasp or earring hook into your work but lack the silverwork skill or confidence to make them a reality.

To help PMC artists who want to learn how to make things like earring hooks, jump rings and clasps, we've created this course. You'll learn about working in sterling silver, how to bend and harden your wire to create springy earring hooks that are durable and last a lifetime.

You'll learn how to make simple clasps for your necklaces so your jewellery is truely hand made. Wire bending and shaping will be covered, building your confidence in handling sterling.

Once you have the basics under your belt, you'll begin to create more complicated findings, learn how to make jump rings and simple chains, and discover how to attach sterling to PMC by soldering with a small butane torch. You pay for the silver that you use as you go along and on average each beginner’s project costs around £15.

This class will equip you to create unique findings, incorporating your own design ideas and allowing you to put your own personality into every aspect of your PMC jewellery.

Your tutor for this class will be Lisa Cain
